Router Security Bundles

One of the most frequently asked questions I receive when discussing security on IOS routers is the question that focuses on the different security bundles that Cisco offers. The question is usually like “What are all the different Security Bundles comprised of and how do they differ?”  

This is a very fair question, because without a clear explanation, one has to wonder why the major variation in price difference between these bundles. There is a document on CCO located here: IOS Bundles that aims to clearly articulate the differences between the bundles. One thing to note, that once you move up to the HSEC from the SEC bundle there are some clear differences in price vs. performance. Some of the major differences are: 

·         HSEC includes the AIM-APN/SSL-X hardware crypto AIM Module
·         HSEC includes Advanced IP Services IOS software
·         HSEC includes 10 SSL VPN user licenses
