Tool: PacketTrap

So here is a nice tool that you can download for free….It’s the pt360 Tool Suite from PacketTrap that integrates network monitoring and network diagnostic tools into a centralized dashboard and interface. I been using this and I must say, I’m very impressed. The interface is very smooth and flows together nicely. Perhaps most interesting to most of you will be the Cisco config tool – with 7 functionalities in a single screen/tool (the Cisco Config Tool is not included in the free version of the software).

There is a free version of the tool and a licensed version of the tool. The licensed version adds more features/tools than the free version. You can trial the PRO (licensed)version for 30 days before making your final decision…Give it a try and send me your thoughts…

I discovered Packettrap pt360 Tool Suite a few weeks ago when searching for a port scan utility. I found it tremendously easy to use with a clean interface, so I decided to check out Cisco Config and their other tools. I ended up building dashboards to monitor our critical devices. It became addicting. Now I have them running on a separate monitor in my office. The dashboards also caught the attention of our CEO (you know how management likes charts and colors). I will post additional comments after further evaluation of the Pro features but at least pt360 made me look good in front of the boss.

  2. Agreed. I used the pt360 TFTP server and the dashboard is our IT board. impressive stuff. We’re wating on the professional version which is supposed to include network discovery. We also need the SQL monitoring capability that they’re prmosing for the first week of March release. Overall, strong product.
