Optical Networking Conference 2008

We invite you to join Cisco for a two-day Optical Networking Conference at Cisco’s Optical lab and facilities in Richardson Texas, April 16–17. Our conference has been designed to provide technical decision makers, CTOs, and VPs with the following benefits:

  • One-on-one meetings with Cisco’s Optical executives and product experts. Private meetings can be prearranged on a first come, first served basis on Tuesday, April 15; Wednesday, April 16, in the morning during facility and demo tours; and Friday, April 18.
  • Live demonstrations of leading-edge Optical solutions.
  • Presentations designed specifically for a business decision maker audience, focusing on Optical solutions available today with an eye toward the future.
  • Collaboration with fellow networking leaders sharing your interest in the transport evolution.

This conference will feature innovative dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) technology while creating a fertile environment for idea exchange. Our objective is to leave you  with a greater understanding of and appreciation for what a Cisco partnership can bring to your IP next-generation network (IP NGN).

Our agenda efficiently addresses the needs and interests of business decision makers. The official conference begins Wednesday, April 16, at 1 pm. However, we encourage those interested to arrive in the morning to participate in optional lab/facility tours, which will include a review of the network elements integral to our Optical demonstration later that afternoon.

A dramatic increase in bandwidth demand has elevated the importance of efficient, automated, and dynamic Optical transport. Cisco is committed to leading this innovation and using its unique industry position to lead the way to IP and Optical consolidation. The collaboration and input collected at this conference will significantly influence Cisco’s advances in this area and we value your contribution to this potentially annual event.

Visit the Cisco Optical Networking Conference Homepage for the conference agenda or for further details; or register here. If you are attending the conference, please drop me a line, I plan on attending and I’m based out Richardson where the conference is being held. Maybe if we get a group together we could all do dinner somewhere.

So when is Cisco going to get their act together and release a PON module for the metro ethernet switches? It took them long enough to get the BX module out. Will it take another couple years to see a PON?
