PIX to ASA Conversion Tool Available on CCO

Have you tried to copy a PIX configuration directly over to your nice, new, shiny ASA? What did you think of the results of that “copy and paste”? Well contrary to popular believe although the PIX 500 Series Appliances share a common software foundation with the ASA 5500 Series Appliances, you can’t directly use a PIX configuration on an ASA security appliance without serious modification(s). Differences between the platforms, such as physical interface names and the use of outbound and conduit commands (why have you not converted these yet?), prevent PIX configurations from being used unmodified on ASA Appliances. However, if you are migrating from PIX Appliances to ASA Appliances, you can now use the PIX to ASA Conversion Tool to assist you in converting the PIX configuration to an ASA configuration.
